The hotel was nice and the staff was very friendly! I am platinum member and my package included early check-in. This was not honored and I had to wait until 3pm. The food was average and not many chicken selections and no kids meals. The room was wonderful and the view was fantastic. The restaurant doesn’t open until 7:30am but really 7:45am which is not ideal for early birds. Walk to Dover Beach is about 7-10 minutes depending on your pace. I would stay here again.

This property was surprisingly good. I booked based on location and reviews and I'm so happy with the hotel. The service was great. The food and service at the restaurant was so so good. The staff were welcoming and fun. We stayed in the junior suite. Highly recommend!

Fantastic hotel. We had a junior suite which is at the back of the hotel so no noise could be heard from bars on the Gap. Great location near lots of bars and great restaurants. Great place to explore the island and within easy reach of a number of beautiful beaches. The pool/decking area is stunning , great place for a lazy day around the pool. Staff are great and our suite was cleaned with fresh towels and bedding daily . Our 2nd stay here and we will definitely be back . Also the food at this hotel is very good and 2 great popular happy hrs every day .

The location is great but service is slow. Rooms are clean but walls are thin…. So you can hear people/family next door. It would have been nice to accommodate late check out. Shouldn’t allow guests to save lounge chairs as the property is small and other guests would like to use loungers. Stricter policy is needed on sun loungers.

Okay, I have to admit…. I’m reluctantly writing this review, as I genuinely believe this hotel is one of Barbados BEST kept secrets and selfishly I’d love to keep it that way for when I return, as it is a hidden gem! 😁
Turning up at South Gap Barbados, I didn’t have many expectations of what to expect, but wow all I can say is that the hotel was one of the best I’ve ever stayed at, every room has an ocean view and you hear the relaxing sound of the ocean whenever you just open the patio door. The hotel was spotless. In a great location with everything outside, including bars and restaurants. The hotel was incredibly modern, however I have to say I think the staff are what genuinely makes this hotel so special. Every single interaction I had was positive and the team at South Gap made me feel incredibly welcome and couldn’t do enough for me!
I cannot wait to return and already looking at flights.
Thanks again for making my trip so special to the whole South Gap family.

South Gap Hotel is a hidden gem located in the heart of St Lawrence Gap. The ocean view from our balcony was breath taking. The staff are professional and courteous. The food was very good. The wings were great!! Our room was kept clean everyday. The pool and surrounding dining areas were kept clean. The maintenance staff were diligent with the upkeep of the property. The hotel is surrounded by numerous restaurants that serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a food cart outside of the hotel that opens up around 8:00pm. They offer hamburgers, ($10 US dollars) fish sandwiches (that are to die for), ($10 US), macaroni pie, rice and peas, etc. If you get the late night munchies, you are going to be happy that the food cart is there. All the restaurants stop serving food around 9:30pm. Taxi’s are right outside of the hotel. You can also ask the front desk to call a taxi for you if needed. You also have a cheaper option of taking the shared mini vans for $1.75 US. The dollar exchange is simple. $1.00 US is equivalent to $2.00 Bajan. Driving is on the left side of the road if you consider renting a car. In closing, my sister and I noticed a family that left their drinking glasses around the pool area on the ground. These are classless folks. Although you are on vacation, you don’t have to conduct yourself as if you don’t have any home training. We can’t wait to go back next year!!! 😎

Very clean, modern and convenient. Perfect for kids. You can take a stroll outside and meet a chain of restaurants. Even a night club/lounge. Went to the mini mart to grab some snacks for the kids and other items. I only wish they accepted my late check out but apart from that I strongly recommend!

OMG, this place is so great. It’s a typical 3-star beach hotel, nothing obviously special about it. The front “yard” is a kind of scummy parking lot with a half-conex parked over to one side. It’s in a row of beach hotels butt-up against each other in St. Lawrence Gap, the ticky-tacky tourist drinking and souvenir area of Barbados.
But… the South Gap vibe is amazing. I think it’s because the open-air bar/restaurant runs right into the pool deck, giving the whole space the feeling of a village common. When we got there, a bunch of people were watching the Rams/Saints game on the big TV, a group of Bajans sat and chatted nearby, and an old lady tottered around carrying an empty beer bottle. I don’t know, it was just very kooky-laid-back.
We had a junior suite right on the deck floor, which added to the college dorm hang-out feeling. Our patio was an extension of the pool deck. On the night of the lunar eclipse we lay in lounge chairs and drank beer as we watched the moon turn red.
Our room was lovely and comfortable and the shower was to die for, a big rain head with heavy pressure.
There’s no direct beach access, but you just walk next door to a tiny beach where rolling waves and surf give you a good workout.
St. Lawrence Gap - great, if you're into that sort of thing. The South coast is different from the West. Less pretentiously elegant, more middle-middle class. More British, less American. More dated, maybe, but also more relaxed. Love it!
