Schloss Fuschl, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa

Ours was a week long stay celebrating my wife's birthday and much needed relaxing break. Schloss Fuscl is part of thw Luxury Collection and rated a SPG category 7 hotel for a reason. The resort is set near Lake Fuscl that provides a Jetty and lake view front with water activities. The guest services team ensured I could give my missus a birthday surprise - special thanks to Victoria (hope i got the name correct:) who came down with cake and flowers for our midnight surprise. My wife was totally floored with the resort setting, the spa facilities and the care provided by the team - from Reception desk, Restaurant team to Room Services. One of most memorable holidays we ever had. Even the care they took for my little daughter with her bed made up, her small cute gown and slippers are ready for her with a welcome GugelHupf (Ring cake) :). Heartiest thanks to the great team at Schloss Fuscl :) Highly recommended for family or couples.

Room was very nice: clean, comfortable. Shower could be better. Deluxe rooms have only a single lavatory in the bathroom. In general the staff is very helpful, young, and attractive. Exception may be certain dining personal, who give attitude. The dining experience here is a disappointment. The least ambitious food is the best choice (e.g., Wiener Schnitzel); the tasting menus are highly expensive, unexpectedly bland, and not especially good, with uninteresting wine pairings. (Other restaurants in the Salzburg and Hof area are much better. Consult the Michelin Guide.) Since this is a hotel favored by the rich, and sometimes the famous, you may find yourself delegated to an undesirable dining table, with families with small children sitting nearby. There are lots of families in this resort hotel. Protests (and tips) were ineffective--you are simply told: the other tables have already been reserved. This happened to us three separate (pre-reserved) evenings. Breakfast is good and pleasant. Helpful concierge too. Free parking. Although large, the hotel does have charm. The painting collection that adorns the walls is quite fine, and the views of the Fuschlsee are drop-dead beautiful. The Empress Sissi artifacts are nostalgic, in two little museum rooms. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Special family occasion with party of nine. Never before evperienced such a combination of stunning location, fabulous hotel and first class service from incredibly helpful staff. This kind of experience is not cheap so be prepared, though all of our party felt they had good value. 18km out of Salzburg so a hire car is an advantage although hotel provides a free shuttle bus. Would love to return one day.
